WHAT IS THE ACTIVE RELEASE TECHNIQUE?

Active Release Technique (ART) is the application of advanced soft tissue protocols that treat muscle overuse, trauma and nerve entrapment injuries. Muscles, tendons, ligaments, and nerves are manipulated to increase smooth motion and restore muscle function and mobility.

ART involves the use of active movement by the therapist and patient applying precise and purposeful pressure to the muscles. Dense bands of tissue are adhered causing restriction of movement and pain. Once the area is released, blood circulation is restored and healing is possible.
